Public holidays, notice periods and vacation for your HR software
Public holidays, notice periods, vacation and maternity protection in your product, without maintaining the rules yourself.
Every HR product needs public holidays, notice periods and vacation rules. Keeping them up to date costs developer time, and your customers are the first to spot mistakes.
One API key for calendars and calculators, a lookup for any date and a webhook when a rule changes.
The cost of maintaining the rules yourself
Absences, shift plans and departures all depend on the same basics: public holidays for each location, statutory notice periods, minimum vacation for part-time staff and maternity protection periods (Mutterschutzfristen). The rules are set out in federal laws and in the 16 state public holiday laws (Feiertagsgesetze).
They rarely change, but when they do, your software gets no warning. Berlin had a one-off public holiday on May 8, 2025, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has observed International Women's Day (Frauentag) as a public holiday since 2023, and since June 2025 there are protection periods after a miscarriage. A library in your code only picks up changes like these with its next update, if at all.
What Quellenkontor handles for you
- Public holidays for all 16 states from 2015 to 2035, with regional holidays marked and a note on where they apply.
- Working days between two dates by state, with or without Saturdays, for vacation requests and partial months.
- Notice periods under § 622 of the German Civil Code (BGB) with end date, vacation entitlement under the Federal Leave Act (Bundesurlaubsgesetz) and maternity protection periods under § 3 of the Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG).
How to integrate it
You query the values when you need them, or copy them into your database once a year. The calculators take the data your software already has: start date, date the notice was received, working days per week, expected due date.
Every response states the legal basis, so your interface can show it. On the Pro plan and above, a webhook reports every change, so you don't have to check yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Does the API cover regional public holidays?
Yes. Regional holidays such as Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam) in parts of Saxony or the Augsburg Peace Festival (Augsburger Friedensfest) are included and marked, with a note on where they apply.
Can I store the values in my database?
Yes. You may use the results in your product, store them and show them to your customers. You may not pass the data on as a data service of your own.
How do I handle collective agreements (Tarifverträge)?
The API returns the statutory rule. Deviations under employment contracts or collective agreements, such as longer notice periods or extra vacation days, belong in your own logic.
